Jessica & Daniel were married at Denver’s Brown Palace in the beautiful Onyx Room under a mural of cherubs painted into a blue sky. Their ceremony was filled with laughs, tears and a sweet little kiss on Daniel’s ring after Jessica slipped it on his finger. It was fantastic having time to wander around the hauntingly romantic, historic hotel and make some creative portraits. I love when a couple forgets I am there, like Jessica & Daniel, and truly enjoys the moments after they are wed as I happily snap away. During the reception their small but lively group of family and friends wore that dance floor out with salsa numbers and line dances from the moment the music started until the very last song. Thank you Jessica & Daniel for making the last wedding of my season such a beautiful and memorable one. I am a lucky photographer to have had such amazing couples to work with.

Jen & Mike’s Sedalia Wedding
October 28, 2009I had the pleasure of working with San Francisco based photographer Nikki Ritcher in early October photographing the wedding of Jen & Mike at the Sanctuary Golf Course in Sedalia. I haven’t been a “second shooter” in a while and it was really nice having some of the pressure taken off of me. Jen & Mike were really wonderful to work with and Nikki is a very talented and laid back photographer- we got along famously and I look forward to working with her again in January.

Dominique & Steve Engagement
October 26, 2009When I was chatting with Dominique & Steve about what they would like to do for their engagement shoot they said they wanted something romantic and would love to be surrounded by fall colors. I live a mile away from Wonderland Lake here in Boulder and run around the lake almost daily. It was the perfect location and luckily the foliage cooperated as well. Dominique & Steve were really easy to photograph and very natural in front of the camera. A Wisconsin native, Dominique nixed Steve’s idea to wear giant cheese heads for the session but we still had a wonderful late afternoon shoot and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. I am even more excited to work with them again at their July wedding.

Sarah & Shawn
October 14, 2009Sarah & Shawn got married at the beautiful Queen of Peace Church in Aurora where Shawn and his family have been longtime members. Sarah was a wonderfully calm bride but was so full of emotion she burst into tears at the sound of Shawn’s voice when called her before the ceremony. Shawn’s 9-year-old son, Keegan, was the best man and stood at his father’s side with a proud smile firmly planted on his face. Tears streamed down Sarah’s face as she recited her vows and Shawn couldn’t stop stealing kisses from his beautiful bride in the limo ride to Boulder’s Chautauqua Dining hall where they hosted their reception. It was an unusually warm September day, the light following the reception was perfect, and we scrambled over to the flatirons to make beautifully, romantic portraits among the hills and tall, golden grass.

Kristin & Steve
October 2, 2009Kristin and Steve met in Aspen on a ski trip and ironically I met them on the slopes as well. Friends, of friends, of friends, we hit it off right away and I was really excited when they chose me to photograph their wedding. Rain almost foiled their plans for an outdoor wedding at the beautiful Phipps Tennis Pavilion in Denver but miraculously the rains let up just in time for their small outdoor ceremony and some quick portraits on the grounds. The fun-loving bride and groom rented the Bronco Bus to chauffeur them and their large bridal party around and the newlyweds flooded their guests with funny hats, feathered boas and silly sunglasses as they danced non-stop all night long at the Brown Palace. True love is letting your new husband use your leg like a guitar to rock out to Journey.

Chi & Matt
September 30, 2009Chi & Matt had their Boulder wedding at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and hosted their reception around the corner at Rembrandt Yard. I loved photographing all the girls getting ready and especially loved the bridesmaids floral shoes. The ceremony was very traditional but made special when Matt’s fellow Naval officers made an arch with their swords for the newlyweds to walk through as they departed the church. We headed up to Chautauqua Park and got some beautiful portraits in front of the flatirons and had a wonderful evening full of many toasts, dancing and warm family moments.

Katie & Aaron
September 10, 2009Katie and Aaron got hitched at the Hillside Gardens in Colorado Springs on a drizzly August day. The happy couple didn’t let a few rain drops ruin their day and it was great getting to wander around the grounds making fun photos near all the interesting antique memorabilia that decorate the gardens. Katie had to take on the bulk of the wedding planning because through most of their engagement Aaron was overseas fighting for our country with the U.S. Army. The day was a total success and the sun even made a brief appearance revealing a sunning view of Pikes Peak on the horizon.

Annie & Adam
August 20, 2009CU alumni Annie & Adam currently live in North Carolina but wanted to have their wedding back where they first met and fell in love. They were wed at North Boulder Park and had their reception at the historic Boulder Theater, their names prominently displayed on the marquee. Both of them were choking back tears the entire ceremony and couldn’t help but joke around a little, both blessed with great sense of humors, to lighten the mood. After literally “tying the knot” they spent the night celebrating with their guests under twinkling lights hanging from the ceiling of the beautiful theater.

Rhea & Johnny
August 7, 2009Rhea & Johnny were married in Evergreen’s Genesee Park on a bluff overlooking the mountains. The bridesmaids were dressed in a magnificent coral color and the bride wore a giant smile, a mirror image of her mother’s. Johnny got down on one knee as he slipped Rhea’s ring on her finger and needed a little help remembering his vows. Their reception was held just down the dirt road at the Chief Hosa Lodge decorated with origami cranes and flowers with bamboo plates serving up their delicious BBQ buffet.
